Virginia Alonso

Ms. Alonso was born and reared in El Paso, Texas.  She returned home after living five years in Austin and then nineteen years in Ruidoso, New Mexico where she owned a family restaurant.  Although her children were both born in Austin, Texas, she reared them in Ruidoso.  During the latter part of the restaurant business, she spent commuting back and forth from Ruidoso to Las Cruces where she attended and earned her Bachelors degree in Sociology and Spanish and then her Masters in Family and Consumer Sciences at New Mexico State University.

After closing the restaurant, she returned to El Paso County to work for Texas AgriLife Extension where she heads the Family and Consumer Sciences Department.   Her area of expertise is family dynamics where she spends her days presenting classes to school age parents encompassing all of EL PASO COUNTY.

Her decision to return home has been very rewarding and continues to look forward to serving families in her hometown of El Paso.
